Reading Afterthoughts: How to Be Like Women of Power

The book revealed the success secrets of 21 remarkablew women. Not that I want to climb up the ladder to be one of them :) But it is most people's goal or wish to be successful for their own criteria. Being a working mom of 2 young kids, my successful criteria for myself is to be able to balance work and life. The book does a very good job to be inspirational and motivational. In particularly, I like Martha Stewart's success story. Although I can't say Martha Stewart is my idol, she certainly is a very successful woman.

I am a perfectionist, and especially when you're doing the
kind of thing that people are looking at and trying to learn from, it's terribly
important to do it in the finest fashion possible.

I think you have to be really intensely serious about your
work, but not so serious that you can't see the lightness that may also involve
your life. You have to have that lightness too. You have to not be so
heavy-handed and so ostentatious. It's very important not to be.

Academy of Achievement, 1995

Life is too complicated not to be orderly.
