Chinese Rice Vermicelli
Labels:
cooking
There is no Spaghetti in Chinese cuisine. Instead, rice vermicelli ("gui lin mai fun") is one of the most popular.
Super easy to make and flexible in ingredients. You can buy the dry rice vermicelli from Chinese grocery stores (especially in Chinatown), there are different sizes (S, M, L, XL, yeah, no kidding), and I like the L or XL ones. Just follow instruction on the package to boil vermicelli till softened then soak in cool water (this is very important step to prevent vermicelli from sticking together) and drain really well.
Next, just add seasonings of your own choice. I like to add sesame oil, soy source, hot source, and whatever veggies I have in my fridge and Chinese parsley. :)
